Signe Jeppesen creates worlds inhabited by gods and monsters. Her work focuses less on the horrific aspect of these fantastical beings and more on their personality. Her creations, no matter how bizarre, still stir a sense of empathy in those looking at them. Like Frankenstein’s monster, the “otherness” in Signe’s creations speaks to our own sense of not quite belonging to our wider society.
A self-taught illustrator from Denmark, she prefers to dabble in the dark and outlandish, producing a menagerie of monsters, creatures and alluring devils. Her inspiration is drawn primarily from mythology, animation and various role-play systems and video games. She started her artistic career as a freelance jack-of-all-trades but nowadays focuses more on illustration work.
